Vehicle Description

1948 Willys CJ2A The CJ2A marked a noticeable change in the appearance of the Jeep. The MB had recessed headlights and nine slot grilles. The CJ2A had larger headlights flush mounted in a seven slot grille. The headlight trim rings, which were body color, (Harvest Tan or Pasture Green), became chrome with CJ2A s/n 38687 in 1946. The T-84 transmission, which was considered weak, was replaced by the stronger T-90. The earlier CJ2As had column shifts, Three on the Tree, until it was changed to the floor shift on s/n 38221. But it was still powered by the reliable 134ci 60 horsepower Go Devil engine. Thx thecj2apage.com For consignment, a 1948 Willys CJ2A with a title verified 1,304 actual miles, looking otherworldly in its coat of Alien Green paint. It's clean inside and out and is a bright example of a utilitarian vehicle used for farms and trails in its heyday. 74,122 CJ2A's were produced in 1948. Exterior In a color yet imagined in 1948, this bright shade of green only recently started hitting the show circuit and looks great on our CJ. The scale of the car is really brought into view with the use of black wheels, 15-inch here wrapped in 225/75R15's and contrasting sharply to the Alien Green body, a study in square edges right down to the flat front fenders. Black also takes in the back bumper and front hitch which can be hooked to your camper for those outdoor expeditions. The vertical windshield is on hinges and can be tilted, or kept in place as the entire assembly is lowered onto the hood for the ultimate open air ride! A paint run, a multi part scratch, and some rock chips are the only exterior imperfections we note. Interior As sparse as it gets, you'll find two bucket seats up front covered nicely in gray vinyl which continues to the small back bench. The 3 spoke steering wheel front a green dash, as if the car was dipped in the alien stuff, adorned by a few black faced gauges, ignition, and the typical informational plates that add to the coolness. The shifter and range selectors are floor mounted and with no front mats, green paint is underfoot. The rear passengers get a rubber mat. Drivetrain In the shiny green bay is a driver quality 134ci L-head Go Devil four cylinder rated at 60 hp, fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor and backed by a Borg Warner T90 3-speed manual transmission and a Dana 18 transfer case that splits power between 5.38 gears front and rear. Drum brakes are on board, also on front and back. Undercarriage At first we thought the mud splatter might be a graphic affixed to the bottom, similar to what you might find on Ford Raptors. But no, that's actual mud underneath giving us a taste of what this vehicle is capable of getting into while retaining its topside good looks! Through the mud we see an otherwise clean underside, with some oil noted on the rear differential and transfer case. Not much mud stuck to the single exhaust which heads into a stock style muffler after turning towards the passenger side and exiting behind the wheel. Leaf spring suspension is in front and in back. Drive-Ability This spry little CJ is true to form with spunky driving, straight tracking, and an ability to communicate imperfections in the road at the same time as handling them! Driving the car really is an outdoor experience and one you might want to reserve for nice days, but whatever you throw at it, it's likely to comply. Overall, a fun ride in a bright happy color which is completely functional. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Pound for pound, one of the most fun vehicles you can purchase for the money. It's light, open, and capable, and this one in a color that also makes it show worthy! If you're looking for some bare bones adventures while maintaining your good looks, this is the perfect CJ for the task. Cla
